RIC hearing aids are a versatile option for patients with mild to severe hearing loss. They offer a discreet design with the speaker placed inside the ear canal for a more natural sound experience. While smaller than BTEs, they still provide advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity and rechargeable options. RICs are ideal for those seeking a balance between performance, comfort, and aesthetics.
CIC hearing aids are designed to fit deep inside the ear canal, making them nearly invisible when worn. They are best suited for mild to moderate hearing loss and provide a discreet hearing solution. While their small size limits some advanced features, they offer a natural sound experience by using the ear’s natural shape to capture sound. CICs are ideal for those prioritizing discretion and a snug, custom fit.
IIC hearing aids are the smallest and most discreet option, fitting deep within the ear canal for near-total invisibility. They are designed for mild to moderate hearing loss and provide a natural sound experience by using the ear’s natural acoustics. While their tiny size limits some features (ie. they do not offer Bluetooth connectivity), they offer a custom fit for maximum discretion. IICs are ideal for those who want a completely hidden hearing solution.
Enhance your hearing in challenging settings with assistive listening devices. From TV streamers to remote microphones, these devices make communication and entertainment more enjoyable.

There are so many different factors that impact upon a patient’s hearing experience. Dr. Rufina will spend time getting to know you – your lifestyle, your health, and, importantly, your goals for coming for your appointment. Then, she will check your ears to determine if there is any disease indicated or whether you might have ear wax build-up, which might be affecting your hearing. It’s not uncommon for individuals to mistakenly think they have hearing loss when, in fact, the issue is simply a buildup of wax in the ear canal.
After the hearing evaluation, Dr. Rufina will review the results and provide you with her conclusions and recommendations in terms of whether you have a hearing loss that could be helped with a hearing device or whether you should just plan to come back in one year for another annual hearing test.
If it is determined that you could be helped with hearing devices, Dr. Rufina will explain the options that are available to you and will discuss the cost of hearing devices, what is included in the cost, insurance coverage and financing
After the hearing evaluation, Dr. Rufina will review the results and provide you with her conclusions and recommendations in terms of whether you have a hearing loss and if so could the loss be corrected with a hearing device. For those people who have normal hearing Dr. Yakubov will recommend that you should plan to come back in one year for another annual hearing test.
If it is determined that you could be helped with hearing devices, Dr. Rufina will explain the options that are available to you, both in terms of the type of hearing aid, the level of technology that would be most beneficial to achieve your hearing goals, and the options that exist relative to the brands and styles that are available. She will also discuss the cost of hearing devices, what is included in the cost, insurance coverage, and financing options.
The cost of hearing aids can vary widely based on the type, features, and level of technology. As a general rule, the more features the hearing aid has, the higher the price. Some insurance plans may offer partial coverage, so it’s a good idea to check with your provider.
Yes, in most cases, you can self-refer to an audiologist. Many audiology clinics allow you to schedule an appointment directly without needing a referral. However, some insurance plans or specific circumstances may require a doctor’s referral, so it’s best to confirm with your provider.
In most situations, you don’t need a doctor’s referral for a hearing test. Audiology clinics often accept patients without referrals. That said, some insurance providers may require a pre-approval for coverage, so it is always a good idea to check with your insurer beforehand.
No, they are not the same. While all three work with hearing aids, only audiologists have a doctorate (Au.D.) and can diagnose and treat hearing and balance disorders.
Key Differences:
Generally, a licensed hearing aid dispenser has 4-6 months of formal training, whereas an audiologist has 4-6 years.
